My Experience at 3 days Residential NELIS Leadership Bootcamp in Akure, Nigeria

I am glad to be among the 15 young leaders from Nigeria selected as NELIS (Next Leaders’ initiative for Sustainability) Japan, chapter coordinator in Nigeria. I am happy representing Imo State, the eastern heartland and base of hospitality.

The 3 days leadership bootcamp was held at Sharon Exclusive Suites, Ijapo estate, Akure. It was a follow up to the December 1-2, 2017 conference held in Lagos, which was first ever conference by NELIS in Africa.

The environment was peaceful, serene, and
conducive for quality learning, and the staff was courteous and available at all times to assist. The resource persons for this event were also people of great pedigree; their gentility, teaching method and quality of their presentations were second to none. I felt inspired by their actions.

Great thanks to Peter David Pedersen, Sakoto, Lawrence Afere, Felix Iziomoh, Akin Ibitokun, and Richard Adeyemi for their excellent and timeliness presentations. The participants learnt leadership skills that will help them to make huge impact in their various communities. Leadership is inspiration, and a call to service- I am happy these people exemplified it in their actions.

Some of the keywords learnt include but not limited to: NELIS Vision, agricultural revolution, environmental sustainability, quality leadership tools for community leaders, project design and implementation, effective communication, community development, population studies & future of Africa, organic farming, speechmaking, Goal mapping etc

The event took place from 30th March, till 2nd April, 2018. Beside awesome presentations, other side attractions include group presentations, questions and answer sections, visit to Idanre Hills, networking with co-participants and speakers, sharing of success stories, and sharing vision for building a new world of sustainable leaders.

In my own community, plans are underway to do quality programs with my organization 'Blueprint Consulting' in conjunction NELIS. I am set to connect, inspire and empower my community to effective leadership and sustainability.

Interestingly, we ended the bootcamp with a big bang ‘Together, we will work towards creating a future we can be proud of transferring to the next generation’.

I believe in NELIS vision, and I will try my best within my space to actualize it. I am happy NELIS Nigeria is pioneered and engineered by great youthful leaders of repute.
