Few hours ago, Ubulu-Uku community and its environ in Aniocha Local Government, Delta State Nigeria was thrown into joy as a new monarch, and most certainly the youngest monarch in African history was installedfollowing the death of his father who was abducted on January 5th along Igbodo-Obior road and subsequently murdered.
Obi (Agbogidi) Chukwuka Noah Akaeze 1 is a 15-year old secondary school student, and the son of the late King Obi Ofulue 111.
Joseph Obaze, the palace secretary maintained that in line with the tradition and custom of Ubulu-Uku, a king is said to be dead after his first son is crowned a king.
According to him, the people of the community are excited beyond words on the installation of the new Obi. However, he maintained that a regent would be appointed to manage the stool, while the 15-year old monarch pursues his academic career.
On the installation of the Obi,the Palace Secretary, Joseph Obaze, said it was in line with the custom and tradition of the people of Ubulu-Uku that a king is said to be dead only when a new one is installed and his first son crowned as king.
“But who the regent will be has not been determined yet. That is a process that will be decided on later.
“We are therefore calling on our people to be law abiding and rally round the new Obi so that the community can move forward in harmony”, he said.
The new monarch will enjoy all the rights and privileges due to him even while pursuing his educational career.
Obi (Agbogidi) Chukwuka Noah Akaeze should be the youngest Traditional Ruler on the African continent.
