Overcoming Exams Fear: 5 useful steps

Examinations periods are usually very stressful. Students rarely don’t know what to expect. Those who suffer as a result of exam anxiety are liable to have low grades.

 A little anxiety is enough to cripple your academic performance; some students become overwhelmed by the situation to the extent that they forget what they have learnt. Exam fear or exam anxiety can strike few days before the d-day. But good study habits can do the magic.
Step 1
Good study habits are powerful keys for overcoming examination fear. Paying attention in the class and avoiding last minute ‘cramming’ can be of great help.
Step 2
Relax your mind and body. Ensure you take enough sleep, engage yourself with enough exercises and eat well. Healthier people achieve examination success.
Step 3

Meet your teachers or instructors and asked them areas of concentration- this will help you to have an idea of what to expect on the d-day.

Step 4
Practice self-talk; create a mantra that will help in calming your test anxiety. Repeat the positive self-talk as often as possible. Dismiss any negative thought or emotions that come to your mind. Promise yourself you are going to be successful in the examinations.

Step 5
If you have studied well, make sure you take good night sleep a night before the examinations. You can try to distract yourself with a good book or a television show.
