As Imolites prepare to go to the polls to vote for credible candidates, in the upcoming gubernatorial election in the state, intellectual gladiators are seriously scrutinizing all the candidates vying for governorship position, so as to select a credible, purpose-driven and competent leader.
This has prompted the attention of one of the vibrant academic institutions in the State ( Calvary International Secondary School, Orji Owerri) to organize an incisive, thought-provoking, educative, revealing, and yet informative debate. Excellence says Aristotle, the ancient philosopher is not an act, but a habit, it must be cultivated so that it can grow and shine like a million stars, it takes excellence to recognize the fruit of excellence in others…that speaks volumes of Calvary International Secondary School Orji, Owerri.
The history of the world revolves around the respected figures of great people, people of integrity and excellence. History will be made on Friday January 16, 2015 as intellectuals, social crusaders, writers, journalists, and activists storms Calvary International Secondary School, Orji Owerri to debate on the topic: “ CONTINUITY OR CHANGE: What is the best option for Imo in the 2015 Governorship Election”
The debate will be one a kind as all the staff and students of Calvary Nursery, Primary and secondary schools plus guests will gather to listen to the key speakers from each camp; the proposing and opposing side.
On the proposing side we have: Mr. George Mbata, Mr. Ethelbert Umeh, Mr. Jonathan Nwosu, and Mrs. Princess Anya, while on the opposing side we have: Mrs. Olivia Duru, Miss Akudo Ubah, Mr. Kelechi Agorua, Mr. Ikeri Godson. The moderator will be Miss Joy Ugwuanyi, Judge: Mr. Henry Obieje, and Time keeper: Miss Okeke Chiamaka. The speakers are all staff of the institution.
The principal of the school, a consummate academic and revolutionary thinker Mr. Chidozie Chukwubike, who is also the current Chairman, Association of Nigerian Authors, Imo State Chapter will make some sterling contributions at the event. Other dignitaries at the event include Mrs. Nnenna Ihebom, novelist, poet, and thinker. She is also the Deputy-Director of the Institution.
Come out en mass and air your views to this thought-provoking topic. There are hundreds of eligible voters, who will be listening to the speakers, and contributors; your voice does count….We really need to enthrone servant leaders.
Our age is yearning for true leaders, and the best way to make it work is by airing our views without prejudice, so as to inspire eligible voters to make the right decision.
